Arbitrarily shaped image coding by using translation invariant wavelet transforms

چکیده
This study presents two sets of translation invariant wavelet transforms for coding an arbitrarily shaped image. Each set can be viewed as a shape-adaptive discrete wavelet transform (SA-DWT) with the property of translation invariance. The proposed transform schemes have the following merits: (1) they are translation invariant, (2) no sharp transition appears at the edges of the image, (3) the number of pixels is maintained constant after transformation, (4) the correlation of pixels is fully exploited, and (5) the property of self-similarity across scales is preserved. Shape{adaptive Wavelet Transform for Zerotree Coding
In this paper the problem of object coding is addressed. In order to satisfy the needs of new applications in a multi-resolution environment the problem of object{oriented coding has to be addressed. In this paper a new approach of object coding is proposed. It is based on an arbitrarily{shaped subband transform followed by a generalized embedded zerotree wavelet algorithm. It is shown in the p...
متن کاملZerotree Coding of Wavelet Coefficients for Image Data on Arbitrarily Shaped Support
A wavelet coding method for image data on arbitrarily shaped support applicable to the object-oriented coding of moving pictures, and to the efficient representation of texture data in computer graphics is proposed. Wavelet transform of arbitrarily shaped image is obtained by applying symmetrical extension technique at region boundaries and keeping the location of wavelet coefficient. For the e...
متن کاملA low memory zerotree coding for arbitrarily shaped objects
The set partitioning in hierarchical trees (SPIHT) algorithm is a computationally simple and efficient zerotree coding technique for image compression. However, the high working memory requirement is its main drawback for hardware realization. We present a low memory zerotree coder (LMZC), which requires much less working memory than SPIHT. The LMZC coding algorithm abandons the use of lists, d...
متن کاملShape adaptive integer transform for coding arbitrarily shaped objects in H.264/AVC
The use of shape-adaptive transforms is a popular approach for coding arbitrarily shaped objects in image/video coding due to their adaptability at object edges and low complexity. In this respect shape adaptive DCT (SA-DCT) and shape adaptive DWT (SA-DWT) have been proposed in previous literature. The Integer Transform (IT), a derivative of the 4x4 DCT, has been adopted in the latest H.264/AVC...
متن کاملAdaptive Edge-Preserving Image Denoising using Arbitrarily Shaped Local Windows in Wavelet Domain
Image denoising is a well explored topic in the field of image processing. A denoising algorithm is designed to suppress the noise while preserving as many image structures and details as possible. This paper presents a novel technique for edge-preserving image denoising using wavelet transforms. The multi-level decomposition of the noisy image is carried out to transform the data into the wave...
